He Is Able

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8

There is one word in this verse that matters more than the rest.

Able.

D. L. Moody said it plainly:

“That little word ‘able’ – may it sink down deep into your hearts….He is able to do all for you that you need to have done; and if you but make up your minds to rely on Him you will have strength as you need it.”

God is able.

Not you. Not your talent. Not your strategy. Not your connections.

God.

The promise is simple. He can do for you what needs to be done. He can supply what is required. He can give strength when strength is needed.

But Moody adds a condition that many ignore: you must make up your mind to rely on Him.

Reliance is not a feeling. It is a decision.

If you rely on yourself, you get your strength.
If you rely on Him, you receive His.

The verse does not promise comfort. It promises sufficiency. It does not promise excess for indulgence. It promises abundance for every good work.

If God has assigned it, He is able to supply it.

Let that word settle.
